NiGHTS: Local weather will effect your game

NiGHTS
Yeah right, I hear you scoff.  As if a game is going to actually tap into the weather using the Wii's unique Weather Channel and change the gaming environment ...

Well, it is.  Today Sega have annouced a first for not only the Wii but gaming everywhere.  Using the Wii Weather Channel and your Wii's registered global location, the 'My Dream' sandbox area on NiGHTS will react to your local weather patterns and give you a bright, sunny day if the weather is sunny where you're living.  Whether it's a gimmick or not, this is certainly a first for video gaming.  We actually think it adds a totally unique feature to the game that will set it apart from your friends playing NiGHTS elsewhere in the country.  NiGHTS will also provide a WIFI-enabled two player mode where you can battle and race against your Wii friends.

So what the heck is A-LIFE?

A-LIFE are creatures living in the world of dreams. There are 3 types of A-LIFE: Nightopians who reside in Nightopia, Nightmarens from the world of Nightmare, and Mepians who are a mix of the two creatures. A-LIFE live freely in the world of Nightopia and they multiply, learn, and evolve as they transform with generational changes.

And what's this 'My Dream' malarky?

'My Dream' is a customizable sandbox environment where players raise their A-LIFE creatures. By using NiGHTS' ability to para-loop in the single-player game, the A-LIFE creatures can be captured and transferred to a player's My Dream space. The My Dream world evolves dramatically depending on how the player nurtures the A-LIFE activities and the various objects that the player drops into the environment, creating a truly personal experience.

NiGHTS reaches American shores on December 18th 2007, with Europe and the UK joining the fun in January 2008.  We'll have a full review for you as soon as possible!  In the meantime, you'd better hope it doesn't rain all winter ...
