The Wii kicks ass in Japan!

wii_VS_Godzilla.jpgNintendo have cause for celebration this week after it was revealed that the Wii has outsold the Playstation 3 six to one in Japan.

According to Japanese publisher Enterbrain, 270, 974 Wiis were sold last month while only 41,628 PS3s made it off the shelves.

The amount of Wiis sold to date in Japan since last December totals 2.76million…a number that the Playstation 3 will have some trouble catching up with.

However, Playstation staff feel confident that their new and improved console will match the success of the PS1 and 2 and are hopeful sales will improve after the launch of new games including ‘Gran Turismo’ and ‘Kill Zone 2’.

Phil Harrison head of Playstation’s worldwide studios said to Game Informer: "You only have to go back to the games that launched PlayStation 1 and Playstation 2.

"If you took those few dozen titles and analysed them, you would never have imagined that either of those formats would have on to sell over 100m units each."

What do you think; can the PS3 outsell the Wii?
