The Wii whips up a stir

wii_g1jockey.jpgAhem. Whips aren't everyone's cup of tea, but according to recent news, you'll soon be able to lash away on your Wii in an effort to develop yet another unique way to play. This time, it's horse racing!

KOEI have announced that their latest installment in the highly successful G1 Jockey series will be coming to the Wii on 29th June 2007 (UK & Europe). Using both nunchuk and Wii remote, the game will release the player to 'feel what it's like to be a jockey in a way never seen before', according to it's developers.

KOEI's Will Curley said “We’re hoping that this game will make all horse racing games before it look like a right load of old pony and have gamers trotting down to their local store to back a genuine winner and be first past the post with the greatest horse racing game ever.”

The last time we were in an arcade and attempted Final Furlong, we were still feeling it about three days later! Will the Wii be able to transfer the sensations of riding a horse and using a whip without sending unfit gamers gasping to ground?

Previous to the Wii launch, many concerned gamers were venting their fears that Wii Sports would prove too sweaty for long term gaming, and could be a flash in the pan. Time has told however, that these fears have no basis in fact - Wii games so far have proven to be versatile enough to allow for a more extreme approach, but only if and when you want to. Small movements translate equally well to the system, so our verdict is - wait and see!

We're already chomping at the bit (groan... Ed)
